Because of its natural, country-style, the Los Penasquitos Ranch House is the wedding venue for all those brides and grooms out there that want to dust off those cowboy boots reserved for special occasions! A Los Penasquitos Ranch House wedding gives designers the opportunity to mix old world charm with a cutting edge, modern vision. As a photographer, I love working at the venue precisely for that very reason. I get to capture images of couples who are totally in love with each other and totally thrilled by the opportunity to push the envelope stylistically.
The Los Penasquitos Ranch House is a historic building dating back to the early 1800s. But to call it historic doesn’t quite get to the magic it imparts for a beautiful ranch house wedding. As someone from England used to red or grey brick buildings, I’m drawn to the ranch house’s mixed adobe and wood construction. The white walls pop out from its surrounding earth tones and yet the building fits naturally into its environment because of its simplicity. Stepping onto the large front porch or into its wooden-beamed rooms, I feel like I’ve taken a step back in time. But this is not some one thousand year- old castle. It’s a lovely house, decorated with the pieces that I can imagine a family putting together to make it their home. In the end, wedding images don’t just capture a couple and their family and friends. Wedding images record a time and a place and shouldn’t that place already feel like magic- all by itself, with out any extra stuff?
For all those brides out there that, like my wife, haven’t forgotten the ending of Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, a Los Penasquitos Ranch House Wedding is the next best thing to riding into the sunset to your castle in the sky. You think I’m joking, but I’m perfectly serious. Why not walk down the aisle through shady trees or walk into the nearby open fields for intimate couple shots?
